Penner had been dealing with back spasms as of late, but he further aggravated the injury while eating breakfast.

“Apparently it’s one of those mysterious things, where you can throw it out (from) sneezing,” Penner said in a interview with L.A. Kings insider Rich Hammond. “I just leaned over to dip some delicious pancakes that my wife made. It’s just like it [the pain] wraps around you and squeezes…So it was disappointing. Hopefully it’s just an isolated injury, and not something that’s going to become chronic.”

Penner has just two goals and six assists in 30 games played this season with the Kings.
