Mayweather’s Jail Time Delayed
Published at(LAS VEGAS) — Floyd Mayweather Jr. will get a chance to fight at least one more time before his 90-day jail sentence begins on June 1st.
On Friday, a judge in Las Vegas granted Mayweather Jr. the permission to fight on Cinco de Mayo against an as-yet unnamed opponent. The ruling by Justice of the Peace Melissa Sargosa came after she was swayed by the last-minute pleas by Mayweather’s lawyer, Richard Wright.
Wright had told the judge that Mayweather’s May 5th pay-per-view fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas would boost business to the community at more than $100 billion.
He also included, that Mayweather was not trying to avoid his sentence, which came after he attacked his ex-girlfriend while two of their children watched in September 2010.
