Wolverines kicker Brendan Gibbons nailed a 37-yard field goal in overtime to give Michigan a 23-20 victory over Virginia Tech (11-3).

“Coach Hoke put it in my foot to kick the field goal to win it, I’m glad he did,” said Gibbons after the win.

Gibbons was given a chance to win the game after Viriginia Tech’s kicker Justin Myer missed a 37-yard field goal of his own during the Hokies’ first possession of overtime.

Reflecting on the victory, Hoke said, “For our seniors and how hard they worked for us all year and their leadership that they showed, it’s a lot of fun. They’re great kids.”
