Scott Arniel Ousted in Columbus
Published at(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — The Columbus Blue Jackets (11-25-5) fired second-year coach Scott Arniel on Monday after his team has given up big leads and been crushed by opposing teams all season.
Assistant coach Todd Richards takes over on an interim basis until the end of the season, the team announced Monday.
The Blue Jackets currently have the worst record in the NHL. Arniel was hired as the fifth head coach in Blue Jackets history on June 8, 2010, and was 45-60-18 in 123 games.
Richards will coach in his first game tonight against the Blackhawks in Chicago.
