(IDAHO FALLS) – A local group is working to make repeated abuse of animals a felony in Idaho. The group “1 of 3” is collecting signatures in an effort to put the initiative on this year’s ballot. Organizers say Idaho is one of only three states in the nation that does not have felony penalties in place for repeat animal abusers. The plan would charge suspects with a felony on their third offense. The group needs 48,000 signatures by April 30, and authorities say they’ve reached about half of that number.
