‘Journey 2,’ ‘Safe House,’ ‘Star Wars: Episode I’ in 3D, ‘The Vow’ Open Friday

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island: In the sequel to 2008’s Journey to the Center of the Earth, a 17-year-old boy and his stepfather head to the South Pacific to respond to a distress signal emanating from a mysterious island. Josh Hutcherson, Dwayne Johnson, Vanessa Hudgens and Michael Caine star in the film, which is screening in 3D.  Rated PG.

Safe House: Ryan Reynolds plays a rookie CIA agent who’s forced to help a CIA traitor, played by Denzel Washington, escape from a safe house under attack. Vera Farmiga and Brendan Gleeson also star. Rated R.

The Vow: A newlywed copes with his wife awaking from a coma and suffering from severe memory loss following their involvement in a car accident. Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum star.  Rated PG-13.

Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace: The first film in the second Star Wars trilogy gets the 3D treatment. Liam Neeson is Qui-Gon Jinn, Ewan McGregor plays Obi-Wan Kenobi and Natalie Portman stars as Queen Amidala. Rated PG.
