Marlins’ Morrison To Pay Tribute To Late Father
Published at(JUPITER, Fla.) — Miami Marlins outfielder Logan Morrison will pay tribute to his late father this season by wearing the No. 5.
Morrison’s father, Tom, passed away in 2010 from lung cancer. He was a fan of Hall of Famer George Brett, who wore No. 5 during his playing days with the Kansas City Royals.
The No. 5 has never been worn by a Marlin, having been retired in honor of former team president Carl Barger before the team’s first franchise game in 1993. Barger, whose favorite player, Joe DiMaggio, wore No. 5, passed away in 1992.
