After winning the title the last four years, the Celtics have trailed the Philadelphia 76ers most of the season. That was until Monday night. The Celtics (27-22) received 36 points and 10 rebounds from their captain Paul Pierce beating the Charlotte Bobcats (7-40) 102-95 and pulling into a tie atop the Atlantic with the 76ers.

The Celtics won despite playing without guard Ray Allen, who sat out his third straight game with an ankle injury.

If the season were to end today, Philadelphia would hold the head-to-head tiebreaker.

The Celtics get a day off before taking on Utah in Boston.
