Friars Club to Roast Betty White

E 061411 BettyWhite?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1330599853237ABC/Ida Mae Astute(NEW YORK) — The Friars Club is set tp roast Betty White this spring, following in the footsteps of such legends as Frank Sinatra, Johnny Carson, and Lucille Ball.

The New York Post reports the comics and entertainers who make up the 108-year old organization will be will sharpening their skewers for the event, which will be held at the Sheraton New York ballroom on May 16.

For her part, White’s not backing down.

“Those Friars may think I’m an easy mark, but I have 90 years of comebacks waiting for them,” she said.  “This is such an honor to be roasted by the Friars Club.  It will be an afternoon filled with dirty words, risque jokes and sex talk…and that’s just what I plan on saying.”

White, 90, has had such a long career that she was on the hot seat at a Dean Martin Celebrity Roast in her honor back in 1978.
