Molina Agrees To New Deal With The Cardinals
Published at(JUPITER, Fla.) — The St. Louis Cardinals announced Thursday that they have agreed to a five-year contract with catcher Yadier Molina worth $75 million, with a mutual option for a sixth year worth $15 million. The new deal will keep the four-time Gold Glove catcher with the Red Birds through the 2017 campaign.
“I grew up here, I feel good here” Molina said at a news conference. “It was my first choice to stay here, and I’m glad we did it.”
The 29-year Molina has spent his entire eight-year big league career in St. Louis, batting .274 with 55 home runs and 390 RBIs. He has won two World Series titles, in 2006 and 2011.
