Ronde Barber Returning For His 16th Season With Buccaneers

NFL via Getty Images(NEW YORK) — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may be undergoing a youth movement, but cornerback Ronde Barber didn’t get the memo. Barber announced that he is returning to the team next season after signing a one-year contract with Tampa Bay.
The 36-year-old cornerback has spent 15 seasons in the NFL, all with the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay had the youngest roster in the NFL last season, but Barber was still a productive player, recording 79 tackles and three interceptions last season.
He is the Buccaneers career interceptions leader with 43 and has made 199 consecutive starts, the longest active streak in the NFL.
“I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be back for my 16th season as a Buccaneer,” Barber said in a statement released by the team. “Coach [Greg] Schiano, Mark Dominik, and the Glazer family have been terrific throughout this process. I’m really excited about the direction of the team, the moves we’ve made, and I can’t wait to get back to work.
Barber was also a key member of the team’s Super Bowl 37 Championship team.
