‘The Godfather’ Returns to Theaters for One Day
Published at(NEW YORK) — A restored version of the Oscar-winning 1972 film The Godfather returns to theaters for one day on Thursday, March 1 to mark the film’s 40th anniversary. It will be screened at 55 Cinemark XD theaters across the country.
The film’s original cinematographer, Gordon Willis, helped oversee the restoration and re-mastering with 5.1 digital surround sound. The actual release anniversary is March 15.
Cinemark will also screen The Godfather: Part II for one day on April 19. The Godfather: Part II was released in 1974.

No plans have been announced for the re-release of The Godfather: Part III.
