Ronald Martinez/Getty Images(RICHMOND, VA) — VCU will be dancing again. Junior guard Darius Theus scored 16 points and dished out five assists, leading VCU to a 59-56 victory over Drexel in the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament Final, clinching it an automatic berth into the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Last year, the Rams shocked the basketball world by reaching the Final Four after being one of the last schools picked for the field.

“We lost a lot of guys off last years team,” VCU coach Shaka Smart said after the game. “A lot of people were looking for us to fall on our face, and to be honest, early on we weren’t very good, but we kept working and the guys had an unbelievable attitude. We got better week by week.”

This is VCU’s first conference tournament title since 2009.
