Jonathan Ferrey/Getty Images(PORTLAND, Ore.) — Virginia Commonwealth did it again on Thursday night.

The Rams (12) upset Wichita State (5) 62-59, and are looking to start some new magic in this year’s 2012 tournament.

“We’ve won one game in this year’s NCAA tournament.  Last year we won five,” VCU head coach Shaka Smart said when asked about last year’s run in the tournament.  “We won 29 games already this year; last year’s team only won 28.  In a lot of ways, we’ve done better than what last year’s team did.”

VCU lead by as many as 13 points in the second half, but Wichita State trimmed that lead down to 54-53 with 5:39 left.  Bradford Burgess scored 16 points in the game, but his three-pointer with 1:33 left put the game in the books for VCU.
