Anne Hathaway Not on 500-Calorie-a-Day Diet for “Les Miserables”

Jim Spellman/WireImage(LONDON) — Anne Hathaway isn’t on a “miserables” diet while working on her next film.
Britain’s Daily Mirror claims Hathaway is eating fewer than 500 calories per day because she was ordered by movie executives to lose 16 pounds in less than 20 days for certain scenes in Les Miserables. She plays the single mother and prostitute Fantine.
Hathaway’s rep denies the report, telling E! News, “She is losing weight for the part, but not that much. Just enough for her to look more frail, as she is playing a dying prostitute. She is consuming more than 500 calories. [The tabloids] are making something of nothing, as usual.”
Hathaway will be seen on the big screen this summer in The Dark Knight Rises. She plays Catwoman.
