Dick Clark Had Prostate Surgery the Day Before He Died

ABC/Ida Mae Astute(LOS ANGELES) — Dick Clark underwent surgery the day before he suffered the heart attack that ended his life last Wednesday.
Access Hollywood has obtained Clark’s death certificate, which indicates the 82-year-old TV personality underwent a transurethral resection of the prostate, a procedure that removes a section of the prostate that blocks urine flow.
According to the death certificate, Clark had the surgery because he suffered from acute urinary retention.
The cause of death is listed as acute myocardial infarction — in other words, a heart attack — and coronary artery disease.
Clark’s remains have been cremated. There’s been no official announcement yet regarding a memorial service.
