Kings Blast Blues 5-2, Take 2-0 Series Lead
Published at(SAINT LOUIS) — The Los Angeles Kings may be the eight seed in the West, but they sure haven’t looked like it so far. After knocking off the top seeded Vancouver Canucks in the First Round, the Kings now have a 2-0 series advantage over the second seeded Blues, after their 5-2 victory Monday night.
The Kings scored four goals in the first period, including two from center Anze Kopitar. Kopitar has now scored five straight playoff games.
“We didn’t let off the gas at all,” Kings captain Dustin Brown said.
Jeff Carter Justin Williams and Mike Richards also scored for the Kings.
The 0-2 series hole doesn’t bode well for the Blues. Throughout their history, the team is 1-16 when facing a 2-0 series deficit.
The puck drops for Game 3 at 10:00PM ET, in Los Angeles.
