(NEW YORK) — Last month, a rep for Clive Davis denied to ABC News Radio that the record executive is developing a film based on Whitney Houston’s life. Nevertheless, if such a project ever does see the light of day, Rihanna is volunteering for the lead role.
Britain’s The Telegraph quoted the singer as saying she hasn’t been contacted by anyone about a possible Whitney biopic, but, she added, she would “love” to star in one. She said, “That would be something that I would have to give my entire life to do because I would want to really pull it off. That’s a huge, huge role and whoever does it has to do a good job.”
Rihanna cited Houston as one of her musical idols, saying, “My first song that I remember falling in love with was a Whitney Houston song — ‘I Will Always Love You.’ All of her music actually was always played in my house, with Mariah Carey and Celine Dion.”
Rihanna and Jennifer Hudson had been linked to Clive Davis’ supposed Whitney film.
