During a panel discussion on Tuesday’s Today show, O’Donnell told Matt Lauer, “I don’t think she’s right for the role and I don’t think she’s capable at this point to portray that character.”

O’Donnell also dismissed Lohan’s performance as guest host of Saturday Night Live last month, saying, “It wasn’t as though she delivered.”

She added, “People watched expecting, hoping, wishing, but she needs a lot of help.”

Lohan’s rep didn’t take too kindly to O’Donnell’s comments.

He said in a statement, “I think Rosie should be focused on her own career right now and not everyone else’s.  It’s a shame someone has to launch into such a mean-spirited attack on another person in order to get publicity for themselves.”
