(POCATELLO) – Democratic state Sen. Nicole LeFavour was in Pocatello over the weekend kicking off her Congressional bid against incumbent Rep. Mike Simpson. LeFavour, who pushed for legislation aimed at ending discrimination against gays and lesbians statewide, says she now has her sights set on filling the seat currently held by a seven-term Republican. LeFavour says she won’t back down in the second congressional district, an area that has traditionally favored the GOP. LeFavour hopes to focus her attention on the economy and education. She faces former gubernatorial candidate Jack Chappell in this year’s primary.
