MLB Suspends Ovideo For Identity And Age Fraud
Published at(NEW YORK) — Miami Marlins right-handed reliever Juan Carlos Ovideo was suspended for eight weeks on Monday by Major League Baseball for identity and age fraud. He will be eligible to return to the diamond on July 23.
Ovideo, formerly known as Leo Nunez, spent the off-season in the Dominican Republic clearing up his immigration status. He has been granted a visa to play in the United States.
Ovideo was the Marlins’ closer from 2009 until 2011, racking up 92 saves in 117 chances.
