(IDAHO FALLS) – The state of Idaho is just a little under two months away from making texting behind the wheel illegal. Starting July 1, texting drivers will face an $85 ticket. Idaho State Police trooper Peter Sibus tells Local News 8 that the law couldn’t come soon enough. Two years ago, Sibus was nearly killed when a texting driver slammed into his patrol car on I-15. Sibus says it’s a miracle that no one died in the accident, and that texting while driving can be worse than driving drunk.
