(REXBURG) – This week marks the 36th anniversary of the Teton Dam failure in the Upper Valley. Rexburg Mayor Richard Woodland tells Local News 8 that he couldn’t be more proud of the efforts so many contributed into restoring what thousands of people now call home. The flood killed 11 people, 13,000 livestock, and caused an estimated $2 billion in damage. The growing demand for water, however, has renewed interest in rebuilding the Teton Dam, though talks on the project have stalled.
