The reality TV star tells Winfrey she has a long history with West because she first met him about a decade ago and has been friends with him for six or seven years.

Kardashian says she feels comfortable with West in part because they have so much in common, including the fact that they’ve both experienced the loss of a parent.

She says, “I can really relate to his mother passing, he can really relate to my father passing.  I mean, there’s so many similarities in our life that I feel like I’m in a really happy, good space.”

Kardashian’s father, Robert Kardashian, died in 2003, and West’s mother, Donda West, passed away in 2007.

Sunday’s episode of Oprah’s Next Chapter is a continuation of last week’s conversation between Winfrey and the Kardashian family.
