Stage scaffolding at Downsview Park fell down just before 4 p.m., and police said that a man in his thirties, trapped underneath the debris, was killed by a “heavy, crushing injury.”  Another man was taken to a hospital; paramedics treated two other men for minor injuries at the scene.  All the victims were people working on the stage, not fans. It’s unclear what caused the collapse.

The Radiohead concerts — held on the 15th anniversary of the release of the band’s landmark album OK Computer — had been scheduled to start at 7:30pm, and was meant to be the highlight of Toronto’s North by Northwest Music Festival.

The band tweeted, “Due to unforeseen circumstances tonight’s [show] at downsview park tonight has been cancelled. Fans are advised not to make their way to the venue.”

When asked for a statement, Radiohead’s reps told ABC News Radio that one was not yet available.

Last summer, seven people were killed in Indiana when a stage collapsed at a Sugarland concert, and three people were injured when a stage collapsed during a Cheap Trick concert in Ottawa, Canada.
