Red Sox Send Daniel Bard To The Minors

Robert Rogers/MLB Photos via Getty Images(BOSTON) — The Boston Red Sox optioned starting pitcher Daniel Bard to Triple-A Pawtucket Tuesday. In 11 games this season, Bard was 5-6 with a 5.24 ERA. He issued 37 walks and struck out just 34 batters in 55 innings of work.

In his last start this past Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays, he gave up five runs and issued six free passes in 1 2/3 innings.

To take Bard’s spot on the roster, the Red Sox recalled outfielder Darnell McDonald from Pawtucket, where he was rehabbing from an oblique injury.
