TMZ.com reports NBC offered Vieira a “big contract” about two weeks ago to take over for Curry, who is rumored to be close to losing her current gig on the Today show.  The website says Vieira rejected the deal because she is not interested in returning to the program.

The New York Times reported earlier this week that NBC executives have been engaged in talks with Curry to reassign her to another position.  Current Today show personality Savannah Guthrie reportedly is among the potential replacements for Curry.

Coincidentally, Curry appears on the cover of the August issue of Ladies’ Home Journal, and she tells the magazine, “I’ve been at Today for 15 years and I’d love to make it to 20.”

In regards to the Today show’s neck-and-neck ratings battle with ABC’s Good Morning America, Curry says, “It’s hard not to take it personally.  You worry, Am I not good enough?  Am I not what people need?  Am I asking the right questions?  When people say negative things or speculate, you can’t help but feel hurt.”

The interview was conducted before the New York Times report was published.
