“Rock of Ages,” “That’s My Boy” Open Friday


Creatas/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Here’s a look at the new movies opening nationwide Friday:

Rock of Ages: The adaptation of the hit Broadway musical stars Julianne Hough and Diego Boneta as two young people in 1987 Los Angeles pursuing their Hollywood dreams.  The film features music from popular ’80s artists such as Poison, Def Leppard and Foreigner.  The all-star cast includes Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Malin Akerman and Mary J. That’s My Boy: Adam Sandler plays an immature dad who tries to reconnect with his estranged son — played by Andy Samberg — on the eve of the son’s wedding day.  Leighton Meester, Vanilla Ice, James Caan and Tony Orlando also star.  Rated R.
