Rudy Jaramillo Out As Cubs Hitting Coach
Published at(CHICAGO) — The Chicago Cubs fired hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo Tuesday, after beginning the season with a dismal record of 20-40. James Rowson, the Cubs minor league hitting coordinator, will take over on an interim basis.
“Rudy’s not to blame for the results,” said Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein. “That’s something we’re all accountable for. We put the roster together. It’s probably more on us than it is on him.”
The 61-year-old Jaramillo joined the Cubs in October 2009 after spending 15 seasons with the Texas Rangers. He coached under three different managers during his time in the Windy City.
