Sakic, Oates, Sundin, and Bure Elected to Hockey Hall of Fame

NHL%20PUCK?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1340794313605iStockPhoto/Thinkstock(TORONTO) — Pavel Bure, Adam Oates, Joe Sakic and Mats Sundin were all named to the Hockey Hall of Fame Tuesday.

Sakic enjoyed a stellar 20-year career with the Quebec Nordiques and Colorado Avalanche. He was also a team captain for his team for 16 years. He scored 50 goals twice and had six 100-point seasons. He won Stanley Cup championships in 1996 and 2001. In total he scored 625 goals and 1,016 assists.

At his best, Oates was arguably the best pure passer in the NHL. He had four-100 point seasons, tallied 341 goals and 1,079 assists (sixth all-time) in 19 seasons in the NHL. He played for the Red Wings, Bruins, Capitals, Flyers, Ducks, and Oilers.

Meanwhile, Bure was considered one of the more dominant goal scorers of his era. He began his career with the Vancouver Canucks during the 1991-1992 season and won the Calder Trophy as the League’s rookie of the year. He scored 60-plus goals in back-to-back seasons and had five seasons where he scored 50-plus goals. With the Canucks, Panthers, and Rangers Bure 437 goals and 342 assists.

Sudin actually began his career in Quebec as a teammate of Sakic.and was also elected in his first year of eligibility. The longtime captain for the Toronto Blue Jays, Sundin finished his 18-year career with 564 goals and 785 points with the Maple Leafs, Nordiques, and Canucks.
