Starter Kevin Millwood pitched the first six innings but had to leave the game with a groin injury.

Tom Wilhelmsen pitched a perfect ninth to secure the no-hitter.

“He was spot on all night,” reliever Tom Wilhelmsen said of Millwood. “We knew it must of been something pretty big for Millwood to take himself out of the game. He’s a real gamer, so  we all just tightened it up a little more and went after him.”

The no-hitter was the fourth this season and second pitched at Safeco Field.

The other four pitchers involved in the feat were Charlie Furbush, Stephen Pryor, Lucas Luetge and Brandon League.

The use of six pitchers in a no-hitter ties the MLB record.
