Jason Kidd Chooses Knicks over Mavericks
Published at(NEW YORK) — Another free agent guard is off the market after Jason Kidd decided to play on Broadway with the New York Knicks next season rather than return with the Dallas Mavericks, according to sources familiar with the decision.
The Mavericks thought that Kidd would return but the Knicks reached a verbal agreement on a three-year deal, worth $9 million, according to ESPN NBA insider Marc Stein.
The move to New York for Kidd could be based on the idea of mentoring Jeremy Lin, according to ESPN.com.
The deal cannot be finalized until July 11.
