Johnson put his first shot on the second playoff hole in a fairway bunker 193 yards from the hole, but he rebounded by hitting a remarkable shot that stopped one foot from the cup leading to the winning birdie.

“After I hit it I thought God that is not gonna get there,” Johnson said of his second shot. “Then I’m thinking, woah, that looks like it’s gonna get there. I thought it was going to go over the green.”

The victory was Johnson’s second in two months and puts him in second in the FedEx Cup standings and fifth in the Ryder Cup standings.

Next up for Johnson, a trip to England to compete in the British Open at Royal Lytham & St. Anne’s.
