Kalil Takes Out Newspaper Add, Says Panthers will Win Super Bowl

Al Messerschmidt/Getty Images(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) — Carolina Panthers center Ryan Kalil took out a full page add in Wednesday’s Charlotte Observer, declaring that the Panthers will win this years Super Bowl.
“CAROLINA PANTHERS – SUPER BOWL XLVII CHAMPIONS!,” he wrote at then end of the add.
The three-time Pro-Bowler will need his team to have quite the turn around to make his statement come true. The Panthers finished last season 6-10 and hasn’t won a playoff game since 2006.
Then again, the only time the Panthers made a Super Bowl (although they didn’t win it) was in 2004, a destination most wouldn’t have predicted them to land in before the season. That’s because the previous season, their record was 7-9. And the last time they won a playoff game was seven years prior, the same amount of time it will be if the Panthers win one this season. So while the idea may seem silly now, you never know what will happen once the season starts.
