Los Angeles Dodgers Pursuing Ryan Dempster
Published at(CHICAGO) — The Los Angeles Dodgers are currently 2.5 games out from the NL West leading San Francisco Giants and are looking to bolster their starting pitching.
On Thursday, the Dodgers proposed a trade to the Chicago Cubs for pitcher Ryan Dempster, according a baseball source who told ESPNChicago.com.
Dempster has 10-5 trade protection rights, meaning he must approve any trade before it can be made.
Dempster is 5-3 and has a 1.86 ERA (lowest in the majors) and has not allowed a run in 33 innings, though five starts. The Dodgers have top-pitching prospect Zach Lee to offer but there has been no word on whether or not he would be included in the deal.
