Arthur Walker, 35, allegedly drove a red Dodge pickup truck through the double glass doors of Southwest Center Mall at 7:30 a.m. Friday, and hit several kiosks before driving through the pulled down gates of a Champs Sports store.

“He hit the door, backed up, and came back with full force again, and that’s when he came on in here,” Delcina Avery, who witnessed the crash from the parking lot, told ABC News affiliate WFAA-TV in Dallas.

“I guess he was just crazy — it never dawned on me that it was Friday the 13th,” Avery said.

Once at the Champs Sports store, Walker got out of the truck and dressed himself in some of the store’s clothing and a pair of Nike Jordan sneakers.

Police arrived and arrested Walker inside the store. An ambulance took him to the hospital to be evaluated, but not before Sgt. Elliott Forge returned the new shoes to the store.

“I only took off the sneakers, because nobody wants to see him nude. We can at least return the sneakers,” Forge told WFAA. “My assessment is he wasn’t in his right mind.”

Police say Walker was involved in a domestic disturbance about a mile from the mall, and for some reason he left the home naked.

Before the mall incident, police received a call from a woman in the area saying a man in a red pickup truck approached her car wearing only a blanket. She said he knocked on her window and told her to get out, but she drove away.

Police have not released the results of Walker’s medical evaluation, but Forge took a guess as to why he was prompted to crash into the mall naked.

“Normally, when we deal with people that are … naked, they are usually under the influence of some kind of narcotic,” Forge said.

At the time of the incident, the mall had not yet opened, and no one was hurt.
