Sly Stallone’s Nephew Accuses Star of Neglecting Late Son then Apologizes

Jason Merritt/Getty Images for Hollywood Awards(LOS ANGELES) — A nephew of Sylvester Stallone blasted his Rocky uncle on Facebook, and accused the star of neglecting his late son, Sage Stallone. The nephew later apologized.
The 36-year-old Sage, an actor and director, was found dead in his Los Angeles-area apartment on Friday. The cause of death is unknown. An autopsy has been completed, but results will not be known for another four to six weeks, pending a toxicology report.
In a series of Facebook postings, 18-year-old Edd Filiti, the son of Sly Stallone’s half-sister, Toni Ann, said Sage yearned for his famous dad’s affection. According to the report, Sage telephoned his dad on July 6, the actor’s birthday, and the star didn’t return his call.
In a Facebook posting that has since been removed, according to the Website Celebuzz, Filiti asks, “What did he do wrong, say happy birthday?”
According to the report, Filiti went on to say, “Neither you [Stallone’s wife Jennifer Flavin] or he could return a phone call, which is all he wanted, his father. I know you don’t care what happened, but you’ll care when your [sic] squirming under the burning magnifying glass of public opinion.”
Filiti later contacted the New York Post and expressed regret for airing his feelings on Facebook.
He told the newspaper, “I made a mistake. It is a very emotional time and I vented my feelings. I was feeling raw and emotional and I never meant for my feeling to become public. I took the post down minutes later. I never meant to insult my uncle. I have my own issues with him, but that should never be said on Facebook. I want to recant my words.”
