(NEW YORK) — Cross off another highly touted NBA free agent this summer. Steve Nash has agreed on a sign-and-trade deal from the Phoenix Suns to Los Angeles Lakers that will boost the Lakers right back into title contention, according to ESPN.com’s Marc Stein.
The two-time NBA MVP will be joining Kobe Bryant who convinced Nash to come to the Staples Center because the move would keep Nash close to home with three children in Phoenix.
The deal is expected to be for in excess of $25 million over three years, according to sources with the knowledge of the deal.
Nash is also reportedly recruiting former teammate Grant Hill to wear the purple and gold next year as well, according to sources.
The Suns will receive 2013 and 2015 first-round picks and 2013 and 2014 second-round picks from the Lakers, according to the Arizona Republic.
