The Prince is Crowned King of the Home Run Derby

Getty Prince Fielder?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1341912964501Jamie Squire/Getty Images(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) — Prince Fielder won the 2012 Home Run Derby at Kauffman Stadium, Monday night.

He joins Ken Griffey Jr. as the only players to win multiple Derbys.

“It means a lot,” Fielder said to ESPN Radio of tying Griffey. “Ken’s a good friend of mine. I used to go to his house and play video games. He was always my favorite player. I’m just happy to be mentioned with his name.”

Fielder also becomes the only player ever to win a Derby representing both the American and National Leagues. He won as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers in 2009.

Fielder hit 28 homers in this years Derby and eliminated the Toronto Blue Jays Jose Bautista in the final round.

Fielder now ranks fifth all-time in Home Run Derby home runs with 63.
