TMZ reports that sources close to the former couple say that over the weekend Usher suggested that he and Tameka share 50-50 custody of their boys, and that he slightly increase his child support payments.

When Tameka declined, sources say that Usher tried again, telling his lawyers to come up with a new proposal that would give Tameka a greater share of custody. As part of the deal, Usher would also significantly beef up his child support offer, according to TMZ’s sources.

Usher backed out of his performance at the ESPYs on Wednesday night following Kyle’s accident over the weekend.

Sources tell TMZ that it’s possible that Usher’s changed his mind about the custody case because he’s aware of how much Tameka is suffering with Kyle in the hospital, and the singer doesn’t want to move forward with the legal battle under the circumstances.

TMZ cites sources saying the new custody deal hasn’t yet been presented to Tameka, but they say that she’s open to a “reasonable settlement.”
