(MOSCOW) – The Idaho State Board of Education has signed off on a plan that will allow the University of Idaho football team to go independent. Friday’s 5 to 1 vote also gives the school authorization to put its other sports teams back into the Big Sky Conference. Major defections from the Western Athletic Conference including Boise State and Nevada prompted the school to reconsider its relationship with the WAC. School officials say the move came at the right time for the right reasons.
