(BOSTON) — Jeff Green will be back in Celtics green this NBA season.
The Boston Celtics officially announced the signing of the forward, ending many weeks of speculation whether the deal would get done.
“We are thrilled to have Jeff back with the Celtics,” Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said in a statement on the Celtics’ official website. “Jeff’s versatility on offense and ability to guard players out on the perimeter is something that we are looking forward to having on the court this season.”
The two sides have been in a handshake agreement since the middle of July, but the official announcement was held up for unknown reasons.
Green missed the entirety of last season while recovering from heart surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm.
Two seasons ago, green averaged 9.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game for the Celtics.
He was acquired in a trade from the Oklahoma City Thunder for a package that included center Kendrick Perkins.
