“Live! With Kelly” Settles on New Permanent Co-Host

Jim Spellman/WireImage(NEW YORK) — It’s taken 8 months and 22 days — and 59 guest hosts — but the decision we’ve all been waiting for is finally here. Live! With Kelly has announced that the show has hired a permanent co-host to replace television giant Regis Philbin, who retired in November after hosting the show in various iterations for nearly 30 years.
No word yet on who the host will be. Kelly Ripa is scheduled to host the show alone for its Sept. 3 season premiere. The new host will be making his or her debut the next day, joining Kelly for the walkout and ending months of speculation by fans.
Producers of the show could not be reached for comment, so there’s no saying whether the host will be a newcomer or one of the numerous guest hosts who have filled in during the search. The guest hosts make a talented and diverse list that includes comedian Seth Meyers, retired New York Giant Michael Strahan, television personality Nick Lachey, and singer Josh Groban.
