New York Mets LHP Johan Santana Likely Done For The Season
Published at(NEW YORK) — New York Mets left-handed starting pitcher Johan Santana will likely miss the rest of the season due to lower back inflammation, according to general manager Sandy Alderson.
The 33-year-old underwent an MRI in Manhattan on Tuesday, which revealed his ailment. Santana is not expected to need surgery but doctors have recommended rest, medication and exercise.
The Mets placed Santana on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to August 18th.
Santana is 6-9 on the season with a 4.85 ERA in 21 starts. He pitched the first no-hitter in Mets franchise history on July 1st against the St. Louis Cardinals.
