Currently nine players have transferred out of the Penn State since the NCAA placed sanctions on the school, which allowed Fagnano to transfer in.

“With all those guys leaving, it opened up spots and gave me an opportunity,” said Fagnano. “And I’ve just always wanted to play football there.”

Another reason Fagnano decided to head to Penn State is because his brother, Jake Fagnano, is a safety for the Nittany Lions.

“I wouldn’t say it was an easy decision because I liked Akron, I fit up there,” Fagnano said. “But it was an easy decision in the sense I could play at Penn State and play with my brother.”

Jared will not be able to play this season due to the NCAA transfer rules. When he does get the chance to play in 2013, he will have three years of eligibility left.
