Both are 6-under par through nine holes and McIlroy is happy with his performance thus far.

“It’s nice going into the finally day, hopefully we get it finished, in a great position,” said McIlroy.  “Being 27 holes, I don’t mind a bit if it takes awhile to get done.”

Tiger Woods went from sharing the lead to start the day to being 1 under before play was suspended.  Woods struggled to make birdies on the early holes and hit a spectator with a fairway metal off the tee at the fourth.  After bogeying on the par-5 seventh, he missed a putt.

Adam Scott is 5 under and sitting in second ahead of Carl Pettersson and Bo Van Pelt.

“I did what I could do and I’m sure before I go to bed tonight I’ll know kind of where I stand going into tomorrow and see what happens,” said Van Pelt who is 3 under and tied with Trevor Immelman.

Play will start again on Sunday morning at 7:45 ET.
