(6) South Carolina Gets Past Kentucky, 38-17
Published at(LEXINGTON, Ky.) — South Carolina (5-0) scored 31 unanswered points in the second half, as the Gamecocks took care of Kentucky (1-4), 38-17.
Kentucky lost their starting quarterback Maxwell Smith on the first series of the game with an ankle injury. Freshman quarterback Jalen Whitlow stepped in completing 12 of 23 passes for 114 yards and two interceptions.
Even with the freshman quarterback, the Wildcats were able to outgain the Gamecocks 173-108 in first half yards, leading the Wildcats to a 17-7 halftime lead.
The second half was a different story
Marcus Lattimore rushed for two touchdowns and the defense completely shutdown the Kentucky offense.
Lattimore finished the game with 136 all purpose yards.
Next up for the Gamecocks, a visit from the 5th ranked Georgia Bulldogs.
