Roddick, who declared he was retiring at the end of the tournament, talked about knowing that every match he plays could be his last.

“I’m not trying to over think it,” Roddick said. “I’m enjoying it. I’m trying to be as simplistic as possible. I’m trying to enjoy the process and when I get out there I’m trying to compete also.”

Next up for Roddick, the 2009 US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro from Argentina.

For his career, Roddick is 8-0 in fourth round matches at the US Open.
