(BUFFALO) — The Buffalo Bills released punter Brian Moorman on Tuesday after 12 years with the team and signed free-agent punter Shawn Powell to take over as the starter.
“It goes back to trying to upgrade at the position and looking down the road,” Bills general manager Buddy Nix said. “That is basically it. I would not get into specifics, but with us we evaluate everything every day, especially every week after a game. We do that and we look at things and say, ‘Well, we can get better here.’ That is what we try to do.”
The 36-year-old Moorman had been with the Bills since 2001, when he signed as a free agent. During his time in Buffalo he was named to two Pro Bowls and was a two-time All-Pro.
