ABC(NEW YORK) — Several of Dancing with the Stars’ most popular celebrities will return to the ballroom Monday night, when the ABC competition kicks off its 15th season.

Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars will feature 13 of the show’s most notable alumni, including former champions Kelly Monaco, Emmitt Smith, Shawn Johnson, Apolo Anton Ohno and Helio Castroneves.  Memorable finalists Bristol Palin and Kirstie Alley are also part of the cast.

Smith says all of the stars will feel pressure to do well on the dance floor.  He says the stakes are higher for each of them because “before the expectations were very low.  But now the expectations are extremely high.”

On the two-hour season premiere, which begins at 8 p.m. Eastern time, the all-stars will dance either the cha cha cha or the foxtrot.  The first elimination of the season is scheduled for the following night.

Entertainment Weekly’s Dancing with the Stars expert, Annie Barrett, predicts that Gilles Marini will be the front-runner to win the Mirror Ball trophy, while Pamela Anderson or Bristol Palin will be the most likely to get the boot this week.

The fifth-season premiere of Castle follows Dancing with the Stars at 10 p.m. Eastern time.

Here’s a rundown of the all-stars and their pro dancing partners:

  • Apolo Anton Ohno and Karina Smirnoff
  • Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas
  • Drew Lachey and Anna Trebunskaya
  • Emmitt Smith and Cheryl Burke
  • Gilles Marini and Peta Murgatroyd
  • Helio Castroneves and Chelsie Hightower
  • Joey Fatone and Kym Johnson
  • Kelly Monaco and Valentin Chmerkovskiy
  • Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy
  • Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani
  • Pamela Anderson and Tristan MacManus

I think the early favorites will be Kelly Monaco & Val Chmerkovskiy, Apolo Anton Ohno & Karina Smirnoff, Gilles Marini & Peta Murgatroya and Shawn Johnson & Derek Hough. The ones who will definitely not win at all are Kirstie Ally (because of her age and keeping up), Pamela Anderson (she just wasn’t good at all), Bristol Palin (again, not a good dancer), Joey Fatone (another one who will have a hard time keeping up). I think the guys may have a better chance at one of them winning it all because Apolo, Drew, Emmitt, Helio were all winners and Gilles and Joey were second place winners. I am just completely ruling Pamela and Bristol because I think they will be the first to go home. Kirstie has a big fan base and I do hope that Sabrina Bryan does not get ripped off by going home early just because her fan base is not large enough. She was a great dancer and it was the most shocked of all the seasons of anyone going home early. Anyway, this is my early prediction.

I completely agree with your breakdown of the field, and I would pick Apollo Ohno and Karin Smirnoff as the ones that will win. I think that it will be close though, and I can’t really say that anyone has an advantage. I was talking to a coworker at DISH about the premier, and he thinks that Emmitt will win after seeing his first performance. I think that he had an early advantage being with his former partner, so we will have to see if the other couples catch up. I can never catch the show when it first airs because I work late nights at DISH. It is ok though because I watch it off of Primetime Anytime off of my Hopper which records the four major networks during primetime automatically and doesn’t use space on my hard drive. It looks like Pam is going first, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bristol go next. Then we get down to the tough choices, and it is only the third elimination!
